Match Report | Bo’ness United vs Broomhill | 3-0 | Newtown Park

by David McIntyre

This was Broomhill’s first league match for two weeks, having had successive weeks of cup action and having beaten Cumbernauld Colts in the Scottish Cup, the squad’s confidence was high. Manager Stephen Swift had the luxury of naming the same starting eleven for the first time in consecutive weeks as a reward for their effort the previous week as well as not sustaining any new injuries.

The match started relatively evenly, with both teams creating chances but without truly testing either keeper. Going by the first half it looked as if the match was destined to be determined by a piece of brilliance or a late snatch and grab, however, just on the stroke of half-time the home took the lead.

Their lead was quickly doubled moments after the second half got underway. At 2-0, Bo’ness would knew that the match was far from over as Broomhill continued to go on the attack and managed to create some half chances that on another day would have hit the back of the net. Ultimately, the result was sealed after Bo’ness scored their third of the afternoon.

The Broom have a chance to dust themselves off with a home match coming up next Saturday at The Rock, against University of Stirling.
