Match Report | Civil Service Strollers vs Broomhill | 0-3 | Christie Gillies Park
by David McIntyre
Broomhill travelled to the capital this weekend to play Civil Service Strollers. It looked as though Broomhill’s defensive misfortunes were set to continue with new signing Creag Little suffering a broken nose two minutes into his debut. the defender battled through the pain much to his manager’s delight.
After the injury, Broomhill completely took charge of the match and continuously forced the Stroller’s defender’s problems and it was not long after the Broom were awarded a free-kick just wide of the 18-yard box. The angle was inviting for Paul Kennedy to add to his three assists this season and that is exactly what he did, putting in a perfect cross for Max Wright to head home.
Broomhill continued dominating the first half and had plenty of joy down the wings thanks to the new system they played. When some intricate play down the left-hand side of the pitch led to Broomhill working the ball into the box it looked like another goal was coming, and before Max Wright could do anything he was fouled. This gave Broomhill the opportunity to double their lead before half-time. Paul Kennedy took charge of the situation again and calmly converted the ball into the back of the net.
In the second half, Broomhill was committed to keeping a clean sheet, and with a professional performance they were able to do so albeit with some very good defending at crucial times. Max Wright was able to wrap things up with 6 minutes to go after picking the ball up at the edge of the box and dribbling past a couple of defenders before slotting the ball away into the far corner.
The Broom picked up their first away win in the league this season and will be looking to carry that form into next weekend when they travel to East Stirlingshire.
