Recap
Inverness Caledonian Thistle 4 vs Broomhill 0 | Scottish Cup | Caledonian Stadium
The Broom travelled to Inverness for the Scottish Cup 4th Round as the last remaining Lowland League side in this year’s edition. The team knew that they had to give it everything to have a chance of progressing into the next round. It was a positive start for Broomhill, who gave a good account of themselves. Scott Roberts and Kirk McKnight also found themselves with time on either wing, which allowed them to cause problems to the Inverness backline. The Broomhill boys did very well to frustrate the Inverness, who were limited in the chances created, although they put the ball in the back of the net until the linesman’s flag ruled it out.
As the first half was petering out ‘keeper Luke Scullion kept Broomhill in the match with three big saves within four minutes, including a spectacular double save. Unfortunately, Charlie Gilmour finished brilliantly from outside that box that went through a sea of players, giving Scullion in goals no chance. A goal right before half time was a blow, given how the team had conducted itself, and while there was only one goal in it, there was still a chance.
It was a nightmare start to the second half when Michael Miller was sent off for bringing down Doran in the box. Luke managed to get down low, capture the ball, and keep Broomhill in the game. The red card changed the game, and the Championship side showed their quality with an extra man. The boys never gave up, even after it was 3-0, Darren Miller hit a stunning free-kick that produced a high-quality save. 4-0 was a harsh reflection on the match, with two crucial moments coming instantly on either side of the break.
