It was a trip to the Scottish Borders for Broomhill as they came up against Gala Fairydean Rovers. Josh Jack signed for Broomhill midweek and was placed straight into the starting line-up. Broomhill started the match to find a much-needed win to bolster their league position. 

The Broom started quickly and took an early lead when Paul Kennedy fired a ball across the face of the goal for the debutant Josh Jack to fire home from close range. The early goal gave the team the confidence to grab a stronghold of the match. Corey O’Donnell doubled Broomhill’s lead as he latched onto a pass from Josh Jack. It was those two involved in the third goal as Corey’s shot was parried into the path of Josh to tap into the net. Scott Roberts got onto the scoresheet before half-time after coolly slotting the ball past the goalkeeper.

Broomhill offered a brilliant display of attacking prowess and confidence at the back to maintain their first-half dominance. If the match seemed over as a contest, Corey O’Donnell showed that Broomhill was not ready to settle. The striker grabbed his second of the day as he got the better of Gala’s keeper in a 1v1. With confidence soaring, it was the skipper’s turn to get involved as he headed home a corner from Darren Miller. Broomhill’s advantage caused a ten-minute lapse of concentration as the Rovers got two goals back. 

A red card for Gala did not help their cause, and substitute Max Wright popped up with a late goal after finishing from close range after an expertly placed cross from Darren Miller. Manager Stephen Swift hopes this emphatic win can help the team finish in the top half at the end of the season.
